Berlin Mitte: Hackescher Markt 1 changes owner
An address that has had nothing but great stories to tell from the very beginning, the Hackescher Markt 1 commercial building in Berlin Mitte has changed hands. We brokered the mixed-use property, which has been housing one of four stores of the Japanese lifestyle chain Muji for just over a year. The property went to an institutional investor from Germany for an amount in the upper single-digit millions.
The building, which has a total floor space of around 1,600 square metres, is one of only three buildings with the official address Hackescher Markt. However, the address marks the entire area around the popular square directly on the River Spree. Together with the Hackesche Höfe and the adjacent Oranienburger Straße and Rosenthaler Straße, Hackesche Markt has become a well-known location far beyond the city limits in recent decades. Cultural, gastronomic and retail offerings combine here to create an international meeting place that sets trends and attracts labels. Fred Perry, Oakley and Muji are part of the local brand landscape.
