Berlin marble FOR MUJI
MUJI moves into a legendary prime location in Berlin: the Japanese lifestyle brand MUJI opens 1,700 sqm of retail space over four floors in the Marmorhaus on Kurfürstendamm - which we brokered.
‘The dynamic prime location on Kurfürstendamm is the perfect environment for MUJI’, knows Managing Partner Christoph Schulz. ‘It has one of the highest numbers of visitors in the city and is constantly evolving. The listed Marmorhaus, with its history as a premiere cinema, stands in vivid contrast to the modern lifestyle brand MUJI’.
MUJI is represented worldwide with about 800 stores in 29 countries. There are seven stores in Germany so far, two of which are in Berlin: at Hackescher Markt and in the Mall of Berlin. The concept is to put the products and not the brand in the foreground: minimalist design, functionality and resource-saving production determine the portfolio. It includes clothing for women, men and children, as well as cosmetics, furniture, electronics, food, home and office accessories.
The prominent Marmorhaus looks back on a glamorous history: in 1912/1913 it was built as a cinema. For almost a century, it provided material for moving pictures as the UFA’s (Universum-Film Aktiengesellschaft/ Universal Film Corporation) location in Berlin until 2001, when it was converted into a retail space – for fashion.
