New Brewdog Bar on Friedrichstrasse
Scottish craft beer brewery Brewdog is opening a new bar at Friedrichstrasse 103 in Berlin. The previous tenant at the location was the Maredo steakhouse chain. Lührmann advised on the lease and acted as intermediary.
In the bar with a total area of 625 square metres, Berliners and tourists can sample Brewdog's extensive range of craft beers. In addition to its own creations, the Scottish brewery also offers beers from local breweries. The menu at Brewdog Friedrichstraße features buffalo wings, salads and juicy burgers, including the legendary buttermilk chicken burger Cluck Norris.
The new bar on Friedrichstrasse is already their third in Berlin, along with the nearby bar on Ackerstrasse and the Brewdog restaurant and beer garden in Marienpark.
‘We are delighted to have secured Brewdog, a modern, new tenant for the former Maredo space’, explains Simon Frank of Lührmann Berlin. ‘The gastronomic offer in the prominent and highly frequented location between the Friedrichstraße S-Bahn station and the Friedrichstadt-Palast is optimally extended by the new bar’.
The Scottish brewery Brewdog was founded in 2007 by James Watt and Martin Dickie. Brewdog finances its growth not with bank loans but with the ‘Equity for Punks’ investment model, a type of crowdfunding. In several rounds, almost 83 million pounds were collected from 196,000 participants.
The brewery owes its fame not only to many guerrilla marketing campaigns but also to the many unconventional beers outside the mainstream.
Brewdog is the largest independent brewery in Scotland. Their beers have such unusual names as ‘Sink the Bismarck’, ‘Punk IPA’, ‘I Hardcore You’ and ‘The End of History’.
In addition to its own brewery, Brewdog operates bars in the UK, the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Iceland, Sweden, Estonia, China, Japan, Korea and Australia. Brewdog beers have already won numerous gold medals at the World Beer Cup.
